Cool SLAYER TITLE (customized titles, new concept maybe?)

I've been wondering if this type of title would be possible. A title customized to fit the character. Many characters spend their times farming all over areas. Some enjoy destroying one particular type of creature. I thought having a customized title for killing these creatures would be pretty neat. It would work I suppose something like this. The character would be able to pick ONLY one type of creature. If you enjoy killing demons then any creature that is listed as a demon type would count toward the title. Characters would get a one time selection for their foe. Maybe a command like /slayer scale. Which would put a the slayer title on the title page of the hero makeup. I just listed a few of the titles. I know some people may think the numbers are a little steep, but for the end result it would be spectacular. I am not proposing that rez shrines have bounties for each specific creature in a area but rather this tally would act more like a score card for kills. For the example I am going to use dragons. I am not proposing that the slayer title actually have any benifit, however if it had the same abilities as the lightbringer title structure I wouldn't scoof at the idea.

Another idea I had with this title would be to allow people to pick 3 different types of creatures, like dragons, scales, and trolls. Once they have maxed out all 3 titles they would get the title of Legendary Slayer (1).

Some titles I thought of off the top of my head are below. Please remember that I am using dragons as a example. I realize that some creatures are fewer in zones than others. For instance Oni's. However they do fall under the demon subtype. For those people that go out for the Dragons (saltspray) and such might find they have a hard time because of the low amount of the creatures. I just think a title like this would add a lot of flavor to not only the game, but character development.

0001000 Seeker of Dragons (1)
0002000 Hunter of Dragons (2)
0004000 Killer of Dragons (3)
0008000 Assassin of Dragons (4)
0016000 Vanquisher of Dragons (5)
0032000 Conqueror of Dragons (6)
0064000 Slaughterer of Dragons (7)
0124000 Butcher of Dragons (8)
0240000 Destroyer of Dragons (9)
0540000 Dragon Slayer (10)
1337000 Legendary Dragon Slayer (11)

OR

0001000 Dragon Seeker (1)
0002000 Dragon Hunter (2)
0004000 Dragon Killer (3)
0008000 Dragon Assassin (4)
0016000 Dragon Vanquisher (5)
0032000 Dragon Conqueror (6)
0064000 Dragon Slaughterer (7)
0124000 Dragon Butcher (8)
0240000 Dragon Destroyer (9)
0540000 Dragon Slayer (10)
1337000 Legendary Dragon Slayer (11)

PS: If this did work out, wouldnt it be funny to see a character in Guild Wars 2 that was a Charr wearing the title "Legendary Human Slayer"? Please tell me what you think of this idea? I bet those people who farm the UW, FoW, GoA, or other places constantly might like to show a bit of prestige. I know people in Presear Ascalon would go nuts to get the title Legendary Charr Slayer. LDoA, Ha so you made it, now go kill 1 million charr.

I support this awsome idea!!!

Oh, and I forgot to add that it would actually be funnier (IMHO) to see a Charr wearing the title "Legendary Charr Slayer".
And yes, I got the DL reference.

Actually...this doesn't sound too shabby. Nightfall included the "Bounties" where you get rewards for killing a certain type of creature (all contributing to just two titles), so I can imagine something similar being implemented across all campaigns.

Hell, I'd be lying if I said I didn't want "Legendary Dragon Slayer" underneath my name.

an endurance title that means playing the game not just solo farming for cash to buy keys/unid's/alcohol ect

ps like the max amount 1337 0000 as it is quite l337

Ya when I woke up this morning to check the post a idea occured to me. Another guy had posted something along this line earlier but not with it customized. One of the draw backs was that farmbots would easily get the title. My response to this is simple. It's prestige. Having someone who killed 1 million charr vs someone who killed 1 million dragons would be different in just perspective. Sure anyone could run out of Piken Square and slaughter a million charr, but the time in doing such a thing, just to have the title? Every creature type has a lower version somewhere even demons. In factions for instance the lesser Oni's (which are demons) spawn far less than other creatures in the zone. So having a title for killing demons (not just servants of Abaddon) would be more prestigious than say having a title for killing scales.

The whole idea is it would help breathe a little more life back into Guild Wars while all of us suck that last breath before the deep plunge into GW2. It's a long ways off. Not everyone is good at farming Faction. Not everyone is rich enough to get the lucky title or afford keys. This is more like the "poor man's barbarian" title. It's something anyone can get, no matter what campaign you have.

Legendary Ogre Slayer FTW!

I can't believe my eyes. I really thought this idea would be a hit. What's wrong with a title system that promotes and encourages play. Please post your thoughts. 113 Views and only 7 replies?

If you like the idea, think it sucks, or are indifferent simple add a reply why. I would like to here your thoughts and opinions.

Thanks

The benefit could be to make the +% against <race> mods more effective, like +1% per track.

Ah good idea. That would be nice, similar to Lightbringers having damage reduction per level vs. servants of Abaddon.

Hmm.. could be cool.

I like the idea of having MANY different titles. It allows for more customizing of characters & more uniqueness in players.

Maybe you need a couple different tiers based on monster rarity?
I.E. You can have one tier 3, one tier 2, and one tier 1. T3 would be a rather common monster type, and T1 would be for uncommon monsters, and we have the <Monster Hunter> NPC which you can choose your title from.
My T3 would so be Legendary Manslayer, Legendary Demonhunter for T2, and Legendary Wurmslayer for T1!

How did Runescape get brought into this? Sorry must have missed something LOL. I never played the game, and have no desire to. The Tier idea is good also, but is that making it a little complicated. Hey I like it but I have seen that when ideas starting getting complicated people tend to steer away. Which brings me to something I wanted to mention. Notice that killing 1 million creatures might not be as easy as you think. Working on my title for Lightbringer (and NOT in hardmode) it is a long haul. Even if I received just 2 points per kill for the entire length of the title (which some where worth 1 bounty point) that means I only killed 25,000 of them. One kill One point is a very, very, very harsh title. Does anyone agree or should it stand at having to kill over 1 million creatures?

In Runescape there is a skill track known as "Slayer" in which you recieve a sort of random bounty from certain trainers. You must then go out and kill X amount of ____ monsters. It was a huge grindfest that, like almost all runescape skill tracks, took years to finish. But the skill track alowed you to weild certain weapons that allowed you to farm new monsters introduced, the final of which, dropped the "uber weapon" of its time.
<---used to play RS for ~3 years before they banned me.

Like mentioned I never played Runescape, but thank you for the info. Also it sounds like ANET is doing something similiar with bounties already. For instance the Lightbringer track. What's the end result? GoA. And what's in the GoA? Weapons keeper. It's not a new concept or something created by Runescape. Bounties go back to the great yester year. My proposal is different in the way that it allows you to 'pick' the monsters you want to hunt rather than being assigned one by a person at a rez shrine. There are so many different creatures in the game to vanquish why not make a customized title that shows you differently from everyone else? Just a thought. I also associate this title with the ranger in D&D although there was no 'title' to be earned just a specific favored foe to be able to hunt. Even a paladin had his little quirk against the un-living. Well if you're going to farm shadows, dwarves, giants, dragons, undead, or demons (not just servants of abaddon) why not get a title while doing it?

Maybe my numbers are off. But in my own defense achieving the Legendary Survivor title, that was one hell of a grind fest. Sure anyone can powerlevel themselves with the new heros to 140,000xp, but when you have another million to go? How about standing on a Rez pad for 6 months letting creatures kill you 100,000+ times for the Legendary Defender of Ascalon. I call that a grind fest also. Lots of titles are made for it, and yes it may take years to achieve them. The one thing I don't understand is NOBODY is gonna farm 10,000 Ales alone or 10,000 sweet items. With the way events roll around, that will take years. So buy em you might say? Well many of the titles we see in GW are gold based. (Un)-Lucky, Wisdom, Treasure Hunter and yes you can do these hoping for 10,000 keys to drop or 10,000 rare items to drop (but you know thats not gonna happen in the next 2 years). This title allows for skill of the poor man. The person who does'nt have alot of gold, who does'nt go to ebay or wherever and buy gold for real money. It has nothing to do based on the economy, but rather more just for doing it. And NOBODY can complain that they don't have access to a certian campaign or area to get the title. Just my 2,3,4 and 5 cents again but thanks everyone for the responses this is great.

I love this idea, it is a fantastic concept, I think i prefer goign for only one type, unless they introduced it for one type of creature per chapter, that way if you go for scles in Tyria you cant get points in Cantha or Elona, then the Legendary Slayer would be even more difficult but similar to Legendary Cartographer and Skill hunter.
Would prefer the choice of only one though, so many titles to get already

They could make the lightbringer count as 'Demon slayer' making in work in all demons (not only nightfall ones, but Onis, Demons in tombs and fissure, all titans, etc..).

Then add titles for the rest vs creature weapons mods:
Charr, Dragons, Dwarves, Giants, Ogres, Plants, Skeletons, Tengu, Trolls, and Undead.

The more titles the merrier...it will just keep us from getting bored and give us something else to 'grind' on.

Would create WAY too many titles and has been shot down by the community.

This has been suggested MULTIPLE times already (often with ideas/names riped off dirrectly from runescape and LotR: online). Please use search.

Hes suggesting one title that lets you choose one class of monsters. Not a title per monster type. Please actually read the post.
